Hey guys, my door panels on my 91 Corvette don't stay on the hinge. I took it in and had a corvette guy do the work, but it came back off again. The service guy said i need to have extensions put on to secure it $400 a door !!!!. My question is this if it originally coming from the shop, why won't it stay on their now. Is there a secret fix that I am not aware of, or can this be easily done by adjusting the hindge some how? Has anyone had this problem, and what remedy did you use to fix it..??
You can buy brand new reproductions for $950 a pair from partsladi on eBay. Why pay $400 for a hack job.
I have tried this repair numerous times and it works for a while but won't ever hold like it should.
I met a guy in Carlisle PA that actually remolded or did something that he guaranteed and charged like $150 per panel. I'll have to look him up again.
Sorry I'm no help

If you are saying that the inner panel won't stay on the sheet metal ridges along the inside of the door glass it's likely that the plastic panel retainer ridge has warped.
There is a write up on how to create and install little posts that are a tad higher then the sheet metal ridges and grip the inner door panel lip. This mod requires some cutting and fitting of the hardware store parts and costs around $5 or less.
