I have a smudge on the inside of the clear lens cover right in front of the tach. It is really starting to bother me. Is it a PITA to get this piece off and clean it?

yes! a total pita. i cracked mine trying to get the whole thing out. although if you have a very small socket you can remove just the plastic cover fairly easily. but it is a pain. it gets caught on the collar or tilt part of steering wheel.

It would take you about 3-4 hours to disassemble and reassemble. It's a process starting from the shifter bezel, radio bezel, lower carpeted kick panel, metal kick panel, DIC, instrument cluster bezel, drop steering column, and (can't remember if the headlight switch came off) the instrument cluster slides right out.

It wasn't that bad in my 93. I removed the carpet panel, the metal panel, dropped the steering column (2 bolts), then removed the dash cluster.
