Just figure out at what rpm the rev limiter kicks in... apply the appropriate gear ratio for the auto (i believe it is .7:1 in 4th), and then apply the 3.73 gears to the rear, and then apply the distance traveled by one rotation of your tires, then convert to mph. :D easy as pie ...  :D
Well...with my 79 C3, 3 speed auto, 3.55 gear...I ate a Porsche 935 twin turbo, it was over 165 MPH, on the rev limiter of 7200 RPM ( I had to run him down as he got out of traffic about 4 cars ahead of me. ) :D
He said he was doing 160 and accelerating when I flew by him.
I showed a topend of 172 mph in fourth with the engine turning 5850 rpm with your specifics. I used 5850 as I think that is revlimiter for LT1 (might be wrong).
I don't think a reasonably stock LT1 would ever pull that rpm, but the gearing is there for it-pretty cool.
A reasonable running LT1 will definitely pull redline(5848) in 4th gear with 3.73 gears, should be at 170 mph with 25.5" tall tires. My slightly modded LT1-4 ran 5500 at 172 (25.5 tires and 3.45 gear) with more to go.

:)
He-he. At 6500 RPM in 4th, I would be going 277 MPH.
A4/2.59s. :smash:
I seriously think I could hit 5700 RPM in 3rd though. That's 170 MPH. :seeya
Figures I've seen from I don't remember where are 172 for the coupe, 174 for the convertible. The ragtop is higher (supposedly) because the top deforms with the airflow to give a slight drag advantage.
Not fast enough to outrun radio waves though. :yesnod:
Remember that the stock LT1´s horse power peak is at 5000 RPM.
My A4 with 2.59s goes 160mph in 3rd, that is 5500 RPM and aprox 275 hp according to the diagrammes published by GM. It doesn´t go faster, because the engine looses power with each additional RPM.
Downhill I had my car once at 165 mph at 5700 RPM, at that RPMs the engine is only supposed to have 265 hp.
An A4 with a 3.73 has similar RPMs in Overdrive as my car has in Drive, in fact they are slightly higher, so the car should be slightly slower, I would guess a single mph or so, that´s of cource without mods.
If you wanted to go as fast as possible you should look for a 3.23: This ratio would give you the full 300 hp at 5000 RPM at almost 170 mph, probably the power is not enough to reach that speed, but by calculation the car should easiliy make 165.
