However much you remove from the front rubber is how much the car will be lowered in the front.
Good luck,
Jonathan
I too have been reading a lot on lowering. I read somewhere on this forum that on the early year C4s whatever you shave off of the rubber on the front spring will lower the car by 2.5 times that amount and 4 times the shaved amount for later year C4s. I don't know if this is accurate info or not. Just thought I'd throw it out there before someone inadvertently lowers the front of their Vette by a foot.

I was not aware of that! Good catch. That would definitely suck - then you would really have to buy a new wedge.
Like I said, I don't know if this info is correct or if I quoted it properly for that matter. I can't find the thread where I read it but I did read it during one of my many searches on the subject. I would definitely check with someone more knowledgeable than me (almost everybody) before I started shaving rubber.
Thanks guys. I was trying to figure out how a bolt would lower a car... It should be known at this time that I came from the land of performance volvos (yeah an oxymoron I know) so I have to re-learn a whole new suspension dynamic. So you guys will have to hang with me for a bit...
However I'm still worried about ordering these Bilsteins. I would like to order the Bilstein sports but they are only available for the Z51 packages. I've searched but can't find a picture of the difference in suspension between a Z51 outfitted car and a base model. So I have no idea if the shocks are sold for the Z51's because of valving differences ( the Z51's being stiffer ) or the mounting point on the two cars is different...

I believe the Z51 shocks will work. I think they are called bilstein HD and the softer ones are the bilstein SP or sports. I believe they will both work, the HD are more agressive. You can also use them if you have selective ride but you have to disable the ride system. I would go with the HD over the sport.
