ok i feel stupid...I just threw down a grip of my iraqi blood money for some new shoes on my 88' coupe. The front are 17x8.5 on 275/40/17 and the rear...drum roll... 18x10.5 on 285/35/18. I am 50/50 right now looks terrible or hot? let's hear it. I'll be brave

I think they look great. Are they Chrome or Polished? Either way, nice shoes. Can't wait until I can replace my stock wheels on my 87.

By the way, thank you for serving and defending our country. I separated as a disabled vet in 2005 after 13 years of Active Duty Air Force. Although I am not a Marine, you have my utmost respect as I do for all branches. I work with many retired Marines in the helicopter business.

Take care and thanks for keeping us safe.

I would take out 2 shims from under the 4 bolts in the rear center, just below the leaf spring and call it a day .

It looks great but 275 tires belong on (9 1/2) inch rims ,not (8 1/2) inch. The smaller rims pull the sides of the tires in and make them wear funny. I made the same mistake and the tires were screwed in about 20.000 miles.. Sorry ...WW

My rims are 9.5 on F and 10.5 on R. Tires are same. Did you buy as a wheel/tire package?

I bought as a package and the ride quality and handling from the stock(84 vette z51) was prob a bit better. Wandering was a bit worse, and cornering was a bit better. Traction was way better!

Marine, your Vette looks great!! Now you have to lower it (at least the rear for now). Buy longer bolts, there are few C4 owners that will help you selecting the length and bolt grade for it and you can do it yourself at the bases's Hobby Shop If you choose to lower the front & rear there are many of us that will gladly help you.

Thank you for your service

My view on the wheel/tire combo is a bit different as I feel that the sizes are mismatched.

On the front you say that you have 8.5" wide wheels but you're running a 275-40 tire. I run that tire on my 9.5" wheels. I feel that your front tires are too wide for the width of the wheel.

On the rear you have a 10.5" wheel (2 inches wider than the front wheel) yet you're only running a 285 on the rear wheel which to me is too narrow a tire (almost like the sidewall of the tire is pulling away from the edge of the rim.)

I think that the style of the wheels look nice on your vette ........ but I think that the tires are mismatched for the width of the wheels
