86 auto. When I am coasting downhill my car feels like it's shifting down and I am actually losing speed as I coast down hills. The codes I have are EGR and EST and Lean exhaust. No, the e-brake is not engaged either. Anyone know what the problem could be?
This is completely normal and yes its the torque converter. If you tap the break it should do the same as touching the gas, rpms should go up a little.

When coasting downhill the injectors are nearly shut off; take a look at the inst MPG next time. Mine goes up to 86MPG on a decent grade.
There is an EGR diagnostic routine on my site; the EGR issue may be part of the cause for the lean exhaust or maybe an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor. Not sure about the EST issue, other than to check the EST connector in the Tan/Blk wire below the brake booster.

THe EGR has been partially deleted (I'm not finished with it yet) but should I be losing speed when coasting downhill like that? THe car runs great otherwise.
