cleaning windshield
i recently purchased a Porter Cable 7424 buffer. After i was finnished polishing the car, I decided to see what would happen if i used the buffer on the windshield. I had a new Lake Country buffer pad, The White one, I put it on the puffer and put some Janvil Scratch Remover i had purchased some time ago. I had tried the Janvil before without much success.
I ran the buffer at setting #4. Put some Janvil on the pan and....WOW. It cleaned all the small pits off the windshield. It took about 20 minutes on each side. I ran the buffer on the winshield at 90 deg angles. First a up and down overlapping motion then, Left to right.
As you're buffing keep a small amount of water on the glass to keep it lubricated. An, Keep everything else covered. You will get a lot of splatter all over everything. Cover the rest of the car completly. After you're done just rince the windshield off.
I wish i had taken before and after pictures. It's almost like a new windshield.
For those of you that already have a porter cable 7424 buffer, Give it a try. I was a little worried at first that i would damage the windshield or distort the optics. It didn't.
