Factory Service manual proceedure with embelishments:

This tool sounds like it would make life easy.

From the FAQ

Fluids:
Coolant - Prior to 1995, all Corvettes came with GREEN coolant. Do not mix Dex-Cool with conventional green coolants, or it will cause the mixture to become jelly. It's a real mess to clean up. There are new coolants that are compatible both ways, they are ok.

When refilling be sure to purge the air using the bleeder screw on the t/stat housing, engine running, and bleed again after reaching op temp and t/stat open.

Check out Evans Cooling Sytems http://www.evanscooling.com/index2.html

They invented the LT1 reverse flow system!

I run Evans coolant with no thermostat and 7lb cap.

Not very technical but it works.........open the drain plug on the rad, should be bottom right.Stick a hose in the filler cap and regulate it so the water in equals water coming out.Start it up and let it idle for ten minutes.Turn it off, and after it's finished draining fill it with green stuff. The block won't drain, neither will the heater,so you probably end up with a 50/50 mix.If you're not in Alaska that's probably good enough.

Use distilled water, never public water, or worse, well water.
