Cracks behind door post on an 84

I have an 84 that has been abused by the previous owners. The major problem that I see is that it has cracks behind the door posts on both sides. I have heard that this was a corrected problem later in production. Does anybody know of a fix or should I get rid of this car and get onother project? I read somewhere that they beefed up the frame somewhere. Or is it to late once it has cracked?

I have the same cracks on my passenger side. I was told that this is pretty normal with agressive driving or terribly rough roads. I want to keep my eye on this post to see if what I heard is true.
