I have a small leak in the bottom rear of both mufflers. Is this normal? I bought the exhaust new, so it has not been damaged by me. Also, I can't seem to get the clamps to seal the joints or junctions of the pipes. I have torqued them down fairly tight, but they still leak. This leaking is making the car run a little rough. I tightened everything down, and it runs better. Do i need to have the system welded or am I missing something as to tightening the the clamps. Is the exhaust system under that much pressure? Any help wouid be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a Corsa with the same problem. I went thru every bolt and torqued them all down. I don't worry about it now. If you think that it is causing the engine to run rough then have it welded. An exhaust shop can do this for you for under $50.
Do you mean insert the pipes until they reach th back of the expansion slots. I fit the exhaust, so that the pipe being inserted only left a little of the expansion slots open on the slip over pipe which I figured would be covered by the clamp. Do I need to push each pipe till it reaches the end of the other pipes expansion slots? Is the leak in the back of each muffler normal(there is a little hole in the back of each muffler that drips water when first started:eek:) ? Thanks for the help. :D
Welding it would definetely get rid of the leak. Do you like your exhaust? Also, did you ever run the 1/4 mile before and after the exhaust and or pulleys? Did the UD pulleys give you a SOTP difference at all?
You should have the expansion openings completely closed. You can weld it but removing it means you'll have wrestle with whole thing and you can forget about reselling it since you won't be able to ship it. Mine has been on the car for 11 months with no leaks.

I pushed mine all the way in, everything fit fine. It gets close to the differential (at the rear of the resonantor), but I never have had any trouble after >5K miles.
The weep hole is needed to drain H2O out of the system in case you don't run the car long enough to boil off the exhaust H2O in the muffler.
That is most likely the condensation drain that you are referring to. It is supposed to be there. A leak that far back in the exhaust will not effect the way the car is running. It will have to be before or right around the O2 sensor to cause any realy problems.
Just a reminder.... we are having an UNBELIEVEABLE sale on Corsa C4 exhaust until the end of the year. This is only on in stock systems. Once they are gone, the sale is over. :)
Thanks for all the responses. :D Is it possible that the exhaust leaking is causing the service engine light to temporarily come on and the car to run rough. It feels as though the exhaust gas is coming back up the pipes at cruising speeds especially at about 50mph in 3rd gear. This is usually when the light will come on.
I don't race the car, but I do like the exhaust. I don't think it makes as much power as the B&B Triflo. The B&B would push me into my seat harder than the Corsa, but it was just too loud. I still have the B&B in case I install a better gear in the rear end. As far as the pulleys go, no SOTP difference. The car does seem to pull harder at higher speeds than before. I have only had the car to 135mph, but it was still puliing hard at this speed. I am only running the crank pulley because the two pulleys together let my voltage drop to low. Also my idle dropped after installation to about 500rpm where it used to idle around 650 to 750. Hope that helps. :yesnod:
Mine leak slightly at the joints too. I tightened the clamps to spec and have all the joints fully seated but it still leaks a bit. I re-tightened several times cold and hot but it didn't help. There's some exhaust joint sealant that I've used when clamping other exhausts together that solves this problem, but the Corsa instructions didn't mention using it so I didn't bother. Welding it would solve the problem but if you do it make sure you go to someone who knows how to weld stainless (i.e. be wary of any chain muffler shops).
I still don't understand how it can leak fully seated with the clamps tightened. Has anyone checed the back pressure on the Corsa. You would think the exhaust gas would go the path of least resistance.
