I have read in different postings that to remove the drive shaft you must remove the beam running between the transmision and the rear carrier. I have also read that you can remove the drive shaft without removing the beam. If you have removed the drive shaft without removing the beam please give me instructions on how this is done. I plan on replacing the cat with a free-flow one and I also have u-joints for the drive shaft I plan on installing while I have the exhaust down. Thanks.
With beam in place.
Once you have undone the four PITA bolts holding the rear uni in , you can then swing the shaft to the side of the rear end , slide it back to get the yoke out of the trans then bring it foward to get out of car.
You need the rear supported so you can rotate the rear yoke to swing the uni caps out.
