After the engine warms up, I have this rattling noise that is most noticeable when idling. Just started a week ago, and the only thing done recently was an oil change, has anyone ever heard of an oil filter rattling?, oil pressure is normal and oil level is normal. It's a Mobil One oil filter.
From listening at different places around the car, the best I can tell, it sounds like the catalytic converter on the drivers side (but the oil filter is right behind that). And there's no difference when the clutch is in vs clutch out, so it's not the trans rattling. Has anyone had a similar experience or words of wisdom to isolate the problem. See sig for year and mods.
The matrix in a catalytic converter can clog and break. If your cat is broken inside, you will notice a big gain in power by gutting it, or replacing the y-pipe with one without cats. The rattle could also be the heat shield on the cat. Crawl under your car and wiggle, tap your exhaust to see if the cat is rattling.
