Default Colorcode Competition Yellow in 1994 ?

I tried to find out the RAL color code for my 1994 competition yellow.
Up to know unfortunately without success
(I know there should be a sticker somewhere in the center console - but there isn't one...)
If I look in the blackbook that says "53" - however I don't think my paint shop
knows about that color code.
I've heard this colorcode must be 4 digits (starting with 9xxx) and there have been at least two different competition yellows I know of (maybe 3)...

Does anybody out there know the colorcode of the 94 competition yellow ?

Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Happy holidays from Germany!

Not sure of the code.. but did you check for the sticker in the rear storage compartment behind the passangers seat?

I checked for stickers even in the storage compartment...
Think the guy who owned this Vette before did a really good cleaning job :)

The paint code is a 4 digit code starting with U on the bottom of your center console. :) The paint color code for GM was 53, but the 4 digit one is what tells paint shops how to mix it. :)

p.s.

Since it isn't on your center console, it may be on end of the driver's side door also.

I think I looked at the doors. But I'll try again. Just need to put on
my boots and walk through the 10inch of snow to my garage... I'll be right back... :chevy

Just came in from the garage - brrr...pretty chilly outside...
However I checked both doors...no colorcode (just the pressure for the tires,
and the VIN...) :nonod:

Maybe there are other comp. yellow C4 owners outside who have there numbers still in place ?

Any paint shop worth they're weight in paint :D should know. It's not hard for them but they are usually lazy people working there :cuss

If you still cant find the code the paint shop should have a paint matching gun. Basically you set this thing on you hood and it tells them what to mix to get the color. GO TO A GOOD SHOP!!

Importeater,

indeed it looks like the "Yellow jackets" haven't seen this thread up to now.....;)

Anyway, any help with the U9xxx number (exterior color code for competition yellow for 1994) would still be appreciated !

Remind me once you get this figured out and I will add this info to my yellow paint listings. I have all the years yellow was offered, but only the two digit paint code.

Just looked at mine and I think the code you need is U9804. Mine was actually in the rear storage compartment (I think the consensus was that they moved these codes after '9x, but I don't remember what that x was...). I also have a bottle of touchup paint and a picture of my RPO code sticker if you'd like to see :D

Hope this helps - :chevy

That is the RPO color code used when ordering the car, not the "paint" code.

I know you guys are bias, but I am thinking of painting my car fron white to competition yellow in the summer as well, what are your takes on this? My girlfriend thinks I will get tired of the color fast and want the white back. I think it makes the car look fast....but so do the cops! By the way, how much for a paint job? :flag

Yellow is a good choice if you ask me. But you're right, I'm bias !
You will get much more headturns with this bright color than with white, I think.
You will be seen earlier from other traffic members (which is better, if you drive fast, especially here in Germany at >160mph) - however the cops will see a bright yellow shining thunder coming along the street if you are too fast...

Can't say anything about the price of a paintjob in the States.

Yellow is  in my opinion - but this depends....

Sorry, I would have gotten it for you also, but haven't been on since before Christmas. I can confirm that U9804 is on my RPO sheet in the console area also.
