Default help! engine sealing question

So over the past several months i've noticed my engine (93 LT1 85000 miles) starting to drip more and more oil. As I am still living at my parents house i get limited garage space/tools and therefore just prefer to bring it into the shop when i have a problem. Well as i expected, the rear main bearing seal needs changing as well as pretty much all the other seals and gaskets. Its lookin pretty bad near the optispark and Im worried if i let it go for too long this may cause damage? Well anyway, the shop said to do it right they want to pull the engine and reseal the entire engine for 1800 bucks. Any advice? Anyone in the metro detroit area that might know someplace that could do this job for cheaper?

Thanks!

That seems kind of early for a rear main seal leak on an LT1. Could it be coming out the back of the intake? That'll wet the same area, or maybe a oil filter extension housing o-ring?

Do the intake gasket it leaks in front and rear. Use "The Right Stuff" Permatex clean it up and see what happens. My car was polluted with oil everywhere when I got it ,did the intake and clean up and no more oil. Don't believe what shops tell you they are in the business of making money unless you know them very well. You can DIY in 1/2 day.

Intake china walls are much more likely.. start there clean it up and recheck for leaks..
