Default 1995 Engine swap in a 1994

Alright, I know this isn't a direct drop in, but here goes. I have a 1994 vette with a blown 4L60E transmission. A neighbor down the street bought a complete engine and transmission package including everything down to the accessories, ECM, ECM wiring, etc for a kit car he is building. Due to his personal financial situation he said he would sell me the entire engine, trans, etc at a rather decent price. It has very low miles on it so I was thinking of using it to replace my aged engine and blown trans top to bottom.

My question is what are the differences with the engine and transmission from my 1994 to his '95? Would having the entire engine, trans, ECM, and ECM wiring be enough to transplant his engine into my car? Doing this would be half the price of rebuilding mine from top to bottom.

Thanks for your input. Also if anyone has done this can you tell me some specific things that I would have watch out for to make this swap?

Only thing I can think off off the top of my head is the vented opti. Which means you will need a hole in the aft intake accordion to stick the opti vent in.

Other than that all electrical connections etc should be identical.

I know there was the PWM addition in the trans and I think I read somewhere where the electrical connector is different between 1994 and 1995. Also I think there is an ALDL connector change between those years. Not sure what I would have to do for that. Of course i could be wrong. Guess thats why I'm asking.

Thanks

Well I asked a local corvette parts supplier and he said that there shouldn't be any differences. Although I disagree, I have no "solid evidence" and the consensus says its an easy swap so I bought the '95 drivetrain. I got one steal of a deal.

I normally have horrible luck, but if this is as nice as the seller says, I was very lucky to come across this! A friend at work bought a 94 drivetrain with 40k more miles for $1k more! Keep your fingers crossed.

94 and 95 are very very similar. Both use the the same OBDI PCM, so you can keep all your engine wiring and OBDI connector. The opti will be the biggest issue. I would strongly suggest using the 95 vented opti, which means you need to use the 95 opti, timing cover, and cam. You may need the opti harness (4 wires that run from by the intake into the opti). Your 94 has a different style connector. If the harness doesn't come with it, you can find them on ebay for <$20.
