Default Which one is easier to build?

I'm still looking for my first (drivable) corvette. The search is going well.

Anyway, my question is: Which engine is easier to build an LT1 or an LT4.

By that I mean the available after market go-fast parts. Stronger as in repeated runs down the strip. Able to handle the super charger, plus whatever else comes along.
Which would you recommend as a base to start with?

I realize this is subjective, but I'd like to hear your opinions.

Thanks, Mark

They are basically the same, so if you are planning on building one and doing a minimum of a heads/cam swap buy the best LT1/4 you can find. The only real positive of the LT4 is they are all six speed cars with a Dana 44 rear end. If you are going to build a serious LTX I can't see how it would make a difference. Supercharging a LT1/4 is not very common for a reason, you might want to research that a bit. If I wanted a supercharged Corvette I would look for a LSX powered C5.
Now before the LT4 guys go nuts I know what makes them different, heads, cam, more compression, 1.6 roller rockers, powedered rods blah blah blah blah and a nifty Grand Sport throttle body cover and red paint. I personally think the LT4 would be a better starting point if you did not want to do a whole helluva lot to one as they run really good with basic mods, gears, headers etc. If you are going to build a blown 396 stroker it won't make a difference.

the lt4 if you want to run mid 11s or slower

if you go hog wild it won't matter since everything will be replaced.

I won't be going hog wild yet. I understand about the supercharger. I've read both side of the story. I'm sure the setup will stay (as purchased) for a little while. I'm thinking if there was an appreciable difference, I'd go with the - upper hand now and build on it over the winter.

Thanks for the info so far... Mark
