My luck just keeps getting worse & worse. My bride's 93 Corvette computer (#16159278) just died this afternoon. Does anyone have a spare they are willing to part with? Or have a REPUTABLE place to send one to for repairs?
I recently purchased a remanufactured PCM for my Dodge truck off E-bay and it works well, I asked the guy (Louis) if he could do Vette ECM's at the time and he said he can, the price was reasonable and his shipping was quick.
They are in Ft. Lauderdale, e-mail him at acquaauto@aol.com or call toll free 1-888-664-8787 if you are interested, good luck.
Before we go down this route, how are you sure its the computer. Codes, swap with another, change chips?
I am POSATIVE it is the computer. I can tap on the housing with one finger and get it to shut the engine off & set numerous codes and , with a tap of the same finger, have the car running perfect. I swapped the computer out with the one from my yellow 93, that is down due to a blown up Optispark, and it runs perfect with no codes, even if I tap on it all day long.

Good, I just need to ask. Partsamerica has them. They are Advance/Checkers/Kragens etc. I fyou have these stores near you just print the page out and they match the price. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...ngine+Computer
You might try taking the chip out use contact cleaner and put it back in before spending money. They do come loose and get corrosion on them. The 93 has a removable prom looks like computer memory.
I noticed a previous post for a repair of $75.00. My cost was much more but I believe that they rebuilt the whole thing and not just repair the defective parts. I would ask whoever you send it to to see what they do.

No they do NOT have them. Its listed in the on-line catalog but they DO NOT have any.
I called these folks and got a consideraly better vibe as to whether or not they can help me out. I boxed up my dead computer and it is on it's way to Illinois via UPS. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!!!!
I JUST called them and the young lady that answered the phone stated "we DON'T do Chevy computers, sorry."
Jim
That's strange...I personally went there since they are just north of me and the sent mine out to get rebuilt..I know I seen some young girls working there. I sent them an e-mail to clarify anyway.
I hope you have better luck with the folks you found..Keep us "posted" on how it works out.
I just wanted to post a final follow up to this post. I sent my original computer to SIA.
In the mean time I found a place on line that has a "remanufactured" unit for sale for $364 with a 1 year warranty. I ordered it and recieved it within 2 days. It was JUNK right out of the box. I could see physical damage inside the computer. I called them and they said they would ship out a replacment as soon as FedEx recieved my presant unit. I dropped the unit off and , true to their word, they shipped a replacment out. Trouble was this unit was coming from a warehouse out west and it took almost 1 & 1/2 weeks to arrive. I inspected it upon arrival and it looked 100% better than the previous unit. I installed it and took the car for a ride. It ran well and threw no codes. I stopped at a friends house and shut the car off and when I went to leave it wouldn't run!!! It cranked but refused to fire up. I has no "service engine soon" light on when I turned the key to run and the security light was going nuts. I bummed a ride to my house, pulled the computer out of my other 93 and went back and replaced the "new" unit and the car fired right up. I contacted the vendor and they said that they had no more units to replace it with and they would refund my money. It took a month for the refund to show up.
In the mean time I bought 2 used units between ebay and this forum.
I also got my original unit back from SIA in 2 weeks. The car started and ran fine but kept throwing a code 44. I tested it on my other 93 and it set the same code. I called SIA and they told me to ship it back to them with a note explaining my symptoms. It took about another 3 weeks from when I sent it out to get it back but it has been working PERFECT. The total cost was $91.19 + what it cost for me to ship it to them twice. Quite the bargan considering I spent $600 between the 2 used computers I had already bought. I will keep them as "spares" and tuck them safely away for future use if needed.
It has taken a total of 2 months to finally put this issue to bed and I finally have confidence that it won't leave me stranded again.
Good to hear SIA or Cardone repair will work especially if you do give them a note as to what is happening with it. It gives them a chance to test/check especially that area.

SIA is definatly good to deal with. Cardone is the supplier that sent the Dead On Arrival 1st unit and the subsuquent defective second unit. NOT a company I will deal with again!!!!
I just had them rebuild mine - it was $250 and it has a one year warranty on it. Seems like a good company. Had to wait about 3 weeks though...
Mine has been flawless sofar. I'm not sure what happend to the OP with this company. I called them and they said they do Corvette computers...Good luck
It's good to know that there are companies out there that can repair ot computers
