the frisbee does not do anything to the belt.

LOL. Bill is right. A frisbee removal does not change your belt. Speaking from experience.

The Frisbee is an 8" diameter round piece of steel attached with 4 bolts directly to the front of the waterpump pulley.

If you don't see it, the previous owner could have removed it already.

Added to balance the harmonics of the compressor - the Nippodenso compressor ('88 up) is quite a bit larger so make sure the back brace is installed. If you get vibration or noise, put it back on. Otherwise, some don't seem to have any problems with it gone and it was eliminated with the LT motors (though GM also changed the configuration of the accessory drive train).

Mine is now a bathroom key theft prevention device at a shop in my old hometown.

To frisbee removers:
be sure to add appropriate thickness washers to the bolts so they don't snag the pump.

About serp belts:
I believe sometimes a belt's part number is comprised in part by the number of ribs it has, it's length, and other factory info.
An example would be '89 vette belt pt. # 922K6.....92.2 inches, 6 ribs.

The tension release is the belt tensioner, you can use a socket wrench or breaker bar to move it, not alot of room, you just put the breaker in the arm.

grabbed this pic from google:

that little square w/red arrow is what you use.
