Default Opti spark help needed !

Long story short, my water pump is leaking and all I can assume is the opti spark has been getting a little bath. I have purchased a new water pump, and I figure while I'm there I might as well change the opti spark just incase. I have been reading and it seems the MSD is a very good upgrade. My only question is this, I have looked on the Ecklers site and they have what is called the "Corvette Ignition Assembly, MSD Performance". The other is the "Corvette Distributor Cap Kit, MSD Performance"
Not only is the price very different between the 2 options but how will I now what I need before I take it apart. I hope you guys or ladies can help with this dilema.
Thanks for any and all your help with this matter.
Chris

One is for a complete assembly and the other is for a cap and rotor.

The more expensive of the two is for the complete Optispark. The MSD unit also has an updated venting system simular to what GM put on the 95-96 Corvette Optispark. I CAN tell you that MSD has been working with me on a faulty 2 year old MSD Optispark that was 1 year over their normal warranty period. They seem to stand by their product. Personally, I would NOT but the MSD Optispark from Ecklers. Buy it from Summit Racing or Jegs. You won't get killed with shipping and you will probubly get it delivered faster.

Better yet he can buy the new-in-box MSD unit I have for sale that he has already contacted me about.

You do need the complete assembly, the other one you are referring to is basically a cap and rotor kit probably.

You really don't need anything else for the swap, you are already replacing the water pump so I assume you have the water pump gaskets (I would replace those even if you weren't using a new waterpump.)

A nice deal on RUKWKR's MSD opti.

Also make sure you have a new o-ring for the engine side of the water pump drive (the pump should come with one for the pump side, but not the engine side). Good time to replace hoses and serpentine belt, too.
