Sorry, not in the best mood right now. Out in Texas heat trying to reinstall my pwr steering pump. I accidently bumped my alternator which rolled over and fell on the plug that hooks into it. Needless to say, it smashed the plastic plug into a million little pieces. Where can I get one of these plugs?
To be more clear, this is the 3 wire plug from the engine wiring that plugs into the alternator.
If I could just get another one from autozone or something and splice it in, that would be perfect.
Disconnect the neg. side of the battery and save yourself more grief. I got a 9 volt battery connector and wired it to a cig. lighter plug. (I think they even sell those things now ready made) That saves your clock, radio and computer memory, but won't roast your wiring harness if you have another brush with fate while reassembling the Alternator wiring.
I crushed mine the same way a couple of years ago. I got a replacement at Chevy dealer. If I remember correcly, it had an extra colored wire. I made sure everything else matched up, snipped off the old wire, and connected it and went for a ride! Good as new.
Found it at O'reillys. It was the exact piece that I had broken. Apparently GM uses the same plug on most of their alternators, including the vettes. Thanks for all the help. My car is back on the road once again!

Hummmmm, I think I got cheated! I don't remember a plug like that on the alternator on my '94 and I had it off a few times. I remember a post on the back with a nut and a boot over it. Guess I need to stay awake when I work on it next time.
Oh, tell my grandson 'Hi' for me when you see him. Will be starting his 4th year civil engineering. Rides a crotch rocket and drives a red Ford ranger p/u...works at Olive Garden. What!??? You don't know him?
That would be impressive if you're alternator worked with only that one post hooked up!
My fiance just graduated with her civil engineering degree this spring. I'm sure she would recognize your grandson if she saw him, as they likely had classes together.
But I'll say hey when I see him.
