I'm in the process of getting everything I need to make a pumpkin change this fall. I've bought a used one from a forum member. It has 3:07's in it to replace my 2:59's. Pete K in going to supply me with a 9 1/2 stall converter while I'm this far into it. I'm changing u joints (spicers) and the Teflon washers. I want to change the seals in the pumpkin while it is out. The pinion shaft seal looks simple enough. The axle yoke seals appear to be a different story. Do I need any special tools to remove them. Like one for the ring holding them in the gear case. I have never had anything to do with rear gear stuff. It's going to be a learning process for sure!
Thanks in advance. Any help here would be appreciated!

Sounds like you will have a nice combination when completed Mike. I would recommend you have a good torque wrench on hand to tighten the pinion yoke nut (200ft. lbs. on a D36) . The retaining rings for the side yokes can be a bitch, I purchased the 90* angle pliers part number 32697 in this link, or equivalent quality.
Don't bother with cheap ones from Harbor Freight for this job, they will not get it done, those rings are strong. Pretty straight forward if you have those tools mentioned, have fun!
Thanks for the info and the link TT. Pete said it was about a 4-5 on the difficulty scale of 1-10. T wrench only goes to 150lbs I think. My mechanic will torque it for me though.
