I am planning to purchase a '93 convertible tomorrow. I think I understand all the options included on this vehicle but one. It has the performance axle ratio. Can someone please tell me what ratio that is? What ratio would have been standard? And, the advantage or disadvantages? Thanks for your help. Jim
Not all G92's come with G44... the 2.73 option is availible also... someone posted this eariler today in another thread and said verts with the G92 used the 2.73. You need to get all the G RPO codes to tell.
GM1=2.59 / GU2=2.73 / G44=3.07 / G92 = Performance Axle Ratio - no relationship to the drive ratio, just a more robust diff. I've got GU2 & G92 so that gives me 2.73 with a better diff.
The standard rear gear in the auto LT1s is the GM1( which is the Dana 36 with 2:59s), RPO G92 means you opted for the performance ratio rear axle. The auto verts with G92 will have GU2 (2.73 Dana36) while the auto coupes with G92 will have G44 (3.07 Dana36). :chevy
