i cant decide on what to do so i ask you guys the experts summitt sales a front Y pipe w/o cats if i was going to installed headders and a new Y pipe w/o the pre cats and put in a new catco highflow cat will i be able to pass emmissions and will i gain any HP.
I put TPIS long tube headers and a Random Technologies high flow cat on my 86'.
I do not have a full emmissions test where I live (just visual).
The car lost a little low end torque, but gained a noticable amount of top end pull.
I couldn't get a base line dyno run before I put the headers on (a modded C1 broke the dyno the day I want to make the base line pull). I did make a pull after the headers and the car(automatic trans) made 213RWHP, and 309RWTQ.
I believe the general concensus is that headers give you roughly 15HP, and my experience would agree with that.
From a new front Y and RT cat I gained agout 15chp; I would expect LT headers to add another 15chp to that number but you might need an AFPR so you can dial in a little more fuel to match the increased air flow.
