Working on 1994 corvette. Car was sitting outside a long time. replaced gas fuel pump, gas filter and opti spark. Key will turn on dash but won't start. used trigger start but shuts down. Broke down and took to chevy. He said my center control module was shot. Can't find one and they said not till the end of sept. Any idea on where to get one and is it hard to put it. Ready to sell !!

It's the CCM (Central Control Module). It controls the functions listed below. The CCM is located under the driverside dash. You can view CCM DTC codes and the state of the CCM inputs and data values using the speedometer, odometer and trip monitor or other diagnositc tool. More than likely something is being sensed or not sensed by the CCM to keep it from starting / running.

Have you called a Vette salvage yard to see if they have a used working CCM you can purchase? But before you purchase a new or used CCM note what he factory manual states about the CCM and replacement. So you may want to find out what DTC's are being flagged and work back from there to determine if there is a wiring or connector problem.

"The CCM should only be replaced if diagnostics in this section or in SECTION 8A direct you specifically to do so. Most system malfunctions are traceable to faulty wiring, and connectors, and occasionally components; the CCM itself is very reliable, and is not likely the cause of a malfunction. CCM replacement before complete diagnosis is performed will likely lead to a recurrence of the malfunction."

CCM Functions

Ambient Light Signal Processing
Chimes
Courtesty Lamp Control
Dimming Control
DIC (Driver Information Center) Switches
Fuel Level Detection/Processing
Instrument Panel LCD Digit Display
PASS-Key
Rear defog control
Odometer Processing
Oil Level Monitoring
Satus Warnings / Check Gauges
System Component Malfunction Detection
System Diagnostics Processor / Controller
Trip Computer Processing
UART Serial Communications Master
UTD (Universal Theft Deterrent) Control
Vehicle Speed Detection / Processing

Thanks for the reply. One Chevy dealer said he located one, not sure if he can get it. Tha local chevy dealer ran the check and said to replace the unit. What a bear to get out. Crawling back in there todayto check all the wiring.

Considering the Vette sat out for so long there's a good possibility that there may be a wiring or connector issue due to corrosion. If you get the new CCM and it still fails you'll know it is the wiring. You may want to make sure that if the mechanics diagonosis is wrong you don't have buy/replace the the CCM if the new gets installed and you still have issues.

These Vettes are notorious for oxidation (when they lay idle) in the wire connections, spend a little time and listen to the guys posting, check out the codes, disconnect the battery, simply remove the connectors and push them back on, it maybe all you need, I'm sure the dealer is not going to take the time to do this. If you ask, and you get a reply (on the forum) it is because most likely someone has gone thru the same thing.

Someone will chime in but i´ve heard that if you replace the CCM you have to get it reprogrammed within 100 miles of driving, especially the mileage. Dealer should know this, if they don´t, they can close there business.
