Default How to change shocks

I have a 95 with the base suspension and need to install new shocks.
Is there a write up on how to do this? This is something that I think I can do but would love to see instructions.
Thanks,
Ken

I replaced all four shocks on my '86 in my driveway in about an hour. The fronts can be done without removing the front wheels. Remove the three nuts and bolts on each side and they should come right out. The rears were a little more difficult because the wheels have to come off and the nuts tend to be rusted on. Just spray them down with some PB Blaster and they should come off easier. Not a bad job at all, just be sure to use jack stands when working on the rears.

I can't find the guide I used when I did mine, but it's really easy. The fronts are simply unbolt old and bolt on new. You can do it without taking the wheels off, but I went ahead and put all 4 corners on jack stands and took all the wheels off to make working on it easier.

The rears are pretty simple also, you just have to remove the mounting bracket from the body on the top, then remove the shock from that, if I remember correctly.

First get a FSM, 2nd shocks are just shocks... and if you have to ask, take it somewhere to be serviced

I wouldn't go that far. I mean, you've gotta start somewhere...and shocks are pretty easy, so a good place to learn.

Use "shock" & "install" in the advanced search and lots of hints can be found. Here is one example:

Just spray them down with some PB Blaster and they should come off easier.
The PB Blaster worked well save for my LR shock. I had to buy a small pipe wrench and a pipe to fit over my breaker bar to loosen the nut holding that long lower bolt...

I simply jacked each wheel, removing the rears, to more easily access the shocks and avoid having issues with compressing the shock to install it.

[As far as shocks...easy to learn on. Get the car on jackstands and look for the bolts holding it in. Have a floorjack handy for the front a arms to help you out on the install. (youll know when you get there). Easy stuff for a beginner though. I always use a little antiseize on the bolt threads when going into aluminum for what its worth.
Dont go crazy on the front shock as far as cranking down the little nut on top.
