a time ago, i found out, that im loosing clutch fluid
i have to fill the resourvoir every lets say 400 miles..
now the question..
how much is master and slave cylinder, eventuelly the connecting hose, and how can i get to the connection master cylinder plunger-clutch pedal link
OK the rebuild kits are cheap and simple with instructions inside......the slave cylinder is easy to get to and rebuild but reminber to have it on a 45 degree angle to bleed it..........now to the hard part the master cylinder...again its simple to rebuild but hard to remove......I removed mine from the engine compartment side.....remove the bolts holding it to the fire wall, remove the hyd. line, then place a stick between the seat and clutch petal holding the petal all the way to the floor....this will push the master cylinder away from the fire wall and allow you to remove the retaining clip and remove the master cylinder for rebuild......needle nose pliers are required....good luck
i´ve already red that topic about clutch-trans..thats why i take this matter serious..
needle nose pliers are no problem..
how much is the rebuild kit, and is it worth the money, and how much are new master/slave?
is the hyd.line available too?
one question...are there o-rings in master and slave, or what type do they seal?
the clutch slave and master rebuild kits only contain new rubber boots, clips and new end cups ( I can't think of the proper name for the end cups but there not o-rings) there's not much in them @ $20.00 to $30.00 at auto zone, I can't remember the price, but for what you get their over priced and waaaaaay less than the remanufactured master and slave........rebuild them its the easiest part................when your reinstalling the master cylinder too clutch petal linkage.....don't drop the clip!!!!!!! or when you drop the clip good luck finding it........I know, I did......good luck Bert
Just did both of mine on the 88 and it was easy, You can get both at Autozone, Master is $107.00 and the Slave is another 80.00 You dont need the hose. Just remover the hose and clean it out with parts cleaner and will be like new. Make sure you pull the carpet back to get all the old fluid up that has been leaking....Mine was coming in through the firewall and behind the hard plastic with the insulation... it was nasty and was a PITA to clean up... But its worth it.... The clip that holds the shaft on the master rod is the hardest thing to the job...Take your time and relax...it will go back on...make sure you also have a new plastic bushing that goes on the clutch pedal itself as the new master does not have one and the stock one does not come off the old master. Remove the battery to this makes things a whole lot easier to do. I had both of mine taken out in about and hour including the line and all areas cleaned up in 1/2 hour... Had to order both peices and they were in by the afternoon and went in very easy.. Bleeding is a PITA, but I had taken mine down to my buddy at dealer and he put it up on the lift and double checked my work and bleed it again to make sure all the air was gone, and did it for me for free....HE IS THE BEST...... It feels like new again...My clutch is less than a year old, and I wished I would have changed the parts then...Oh well live an learn....
