Default Oil Temp and Cooling

I have a 95 LT1. When I was last at the track (road course) I was told to get an oil pan to control oil, since I was fast enough to starve the motor. I also saw oil temps of about 255. How bad do you think that temp is? And does anyone have any recommendations for an oil pan and oil cooler?

It does not sound too bad at all. Mine runs at 285 Deg F(+-)5 Deg. It has run at track events for the last 4 years at these temperatures; I would estimate that I have put about 60-80 hours of full throttle track time on it. No cooler and stock pan. I run Redline 10w-40 and overfill it 1/2 quart. Oil temp increases with RPM and full throttle, at 255; the engine is not being run very hard.

Your oil temps are fine if you're running synthetic. If you're not I'd switch.

I'd get a road race oil pan. They employ a baffled design which keeps the pickup submerged during cornering and braking. You can get one for about $300 and there are stock replacements.

Canton is a common brand, www.cantonracingproducts.com, is a common one, but there are other brands out there. I use a Canton pan.

Just curious; do you know what kind of cornering G's you hitting? I am getting above 1G. Where do you run at?

According to the Gtech, 1.36 G lefthand, 1.18 G righthand, 1.00 G braking at Infinion. See 2nd post: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=gtech

run it stock like sidney and I. run the oil temps to 298 no problem. never exploded the motor. and it stays together because it's stock. 1 qt over on the oil.

I wouldn't go to the canton pan because no one can decide on the dip stick level
