I've been having trouble with my 95 for the past week. I had no throttle past 50%. I popped the hood yesterday to find this. Cheap rubber crap from Mid America did not last. If something got sucked in there I could be looking for a new engine right now. I may send them an email along with a picture to see what their responce is. You think for what they charge for these things they would last a little longer. I put the stock duct back on for now. Does anyone have any ideas of something that could be used for the intake ducts while keeping the MAF where it is? I've seen some ideas in the past. Post pictures if you have them.

FWIW I haven't seen posts of gains with a smooth hose. I knew a guy running 10's in the quarter and he tested a turbo setup with smooth hose and then with rippled hose, there was no difference in times!!!
I like the looks of the smooth hose but have heard they do not last well, looks like that part is true and like you say they are pricey. I wont' be buying them after seeing yours.
It looks like something made the rubber very hard and brittle. I noticed you have nitrous hooked up. I am not familiar with nitrous set ups, but is it possible that it leaked onto that coupler?
THe motor twists when you hit the throttle...If the rubber is clamped on there good it eventually splits the rubber like it did, ripping it.
Samco makes a replacement I belive but the most pliable is the stock one.

I think the "smooth" thing sells because it looks better. But air will flow just fine through accordian ducting. The duct is accordianed for a reason, so it will flex.
The Samco does seem to work fine though, as it has some kind of reinforcement in it.
