One to four ??

One to four ??
Just got my first Vette a 91 Metallic Charcoal. And like my friends 2000 Vette I sometimes get this "One to four" message.
Why do I get this message "One to Four" and have to set it in neutral before being able to shift into 2nd or go to fourth ?
Am I stuck with or can I bypass it some way ? DO I WANT TO BYPASS IT ? What could be the consequences ???

this is in the wrong section, try this in tech and performance, but to answer your question it is the CAGS skip shift and it tries to put you into 4th gear.. if it isn't making you go to 4th by locking you out of second, someone has already added a CAGS skip shift eliminator plug and you simply disregard the message!
