Default carpet trouble...

Can anyone tell me how to get the carpet out from under the dash? Do I need to take the dash apart to get it down or do I need to man up and just start ripping sh-t out? I hate to break stuff but I am about ready to. And does anyone know how to get the thick glue off of the tunnel covers? This is all for an '85 my Jennifer.
Thanks for the help.

I removed all the dash panels and the panel on the shifter column. All the rest I just yanked out.

I just left the thick sticky stuff it will just stick to the new carpet and help with the hold...Remove the under dash panels, there pretty simple
to remove and replace. You can then clean them good and carpeting is then easier...You may also find broken or cracked panels that can
then be repaired...P. S...I wish I could find a tube of that thick sticky stuff.

When I replaced the under dash pieces I just ripped the old carpet pieces off, and then put some glue on the surface they attached to and put on the new pieces, carefully pushing the ends up under the trim. Be careful to wipe your hands free of any glue as you do this. The purists will hate this technique but it works just fine.

Regards,
/s/ Chris

I got a thread here somewhere with a ton of pics about pullin' carpet. And a suicide gash from the plastic cover on the tranny tunnel that carved my wrist like a turkey.

I got all sections out, and back, pullin' only the seats.

Thanks for all the help. I have replaced the carpet in the rest of the car already I just can't figure out how to get those F'IN pannels out. I read the service manual for the car but all it says is to remove it, not how to. So there is my problem, I can't get the pannel off b/c i can't figure out how it is secured to the dash.
Thanks again.

It is pinched pretty tight where the dash meets the center console, but the glue does not extend under there. It's close, but mine didn't go all the way.

I got carpet pull pics for a thread of it...
