Car damaged in fire.
Have to replace the wiring harness from ECM to engine.
Does the replacement harness have to be for an '85 only, or would an 86 (or later year) harness work?
If you have to replace the harness, the 85 is all by itself.
1. The 85 used a maf module instead of burnoff relays.
2. The computer is different than 86-89.
3. the 85 didn't have vats
4. The 86 car has the same type cooling fan setup as the 85
5. The 86 and later computers have more memory and are more advanced.
If it were me, I would change the computer to an 86-89 computer, get a chip burned for an 86 car without vats, and install the relays behind the battery.
The chips for an auto and a stick are different.
I purchased a computer from an 86 "stick" car, and after installing it just the way I got it, with the orginal chip, my auto trans wouldn't go into overdrive.
I had to switch chips and everything was fine.
Good luck
P.S. the 85 MAF module isn't sold anymore. Your friend could possibly sell it for $100 or more that will help purchase another harness and computer.

The harness for an '85 Camaro will be the same - possibly different wire lengths for the location of the ESC module and FP relay, but otherwise identical. I found one on Fleabay a while back - complete TPI system (manifolds and everything) for about $100. Used it to "upgrade" the 1978 K10 pickup I have to match the 'vette
