Default RPMs acting retarded

Also when we hooked the rpm back up it has goten retarded !! When you push the gas the rpm stays down and when you let off it goes all the way to the top and stays there til you give it gas again. push gas it goes down , let off it goes up and stays there .

the actual engine revs or what is indicated on the tacho?

the engine revs. when you first start car it is at the bottom the min. you rev the car and let off it goes to the top and stays there until you rev it again and goes down then back up

He must be talking about the "engine revs" on the tach.

If not, tb must be stickin', as mentioned above.

could be a tach filter going south?

ok guys here is a break down.....when you get in the car and put the key in and start car, the rpm needle does not move at all. When you push the gas to rev the motor it still don't move, when you stop pushing the gas the needle goes to the top and stays there and don't move. Then if you push the gas again to rev it goes to the bottom and stays there until you let off the gas and it goes back to the top.

So you are talking about the revs indicated on TACHO ; not revs of actual engine.
If 90/91 common known tacho problem , otherwise replace tacho filter as mentioned above.
