So i was having problems with my car sarting due to fuel shortage. I replaced the regulater with a new adjustable one and replaced the fuel filter. I only have one problem im still not getting any gas at the rails. Is it the fuel pump? I really need to get the car going please help!
Helps to state the year. Do you have a FSM? One thing you can do is run a wire from the positive side of the battery to the ALDL, lower left hand pin (should be the only pin on the lower row), this should power up the fuel pump, and it should run until you disconnect it.
When you turn the key to the on position do you hear the pump run for a few seconds? You should!

Is there a kink or blockage in the steel or rubber fuel lines? Does the pump run when it should, as per rick lambert's post? How did you adjust the fuel pressure at the adjustable regulator, with no fuel? A little time spent in diagnosis would answer all questions. Anyone that answers your fuel pump question with no more information is guessing, just the same as you have, so far. Otherwise, just keep throwing parts at it. By the time you replace all possible parts, it should be working. OR you could do some diagnosing to locate the CAUSE of the problem before you throw more money at it.
Sorry for the lack of info. the car is an 85 and the pump does run for the 2 seconds. The problem is that I can not get the fuel up to the rails after changing the reg. and filter. So I have no pressure at all on the rails.
Thanks

Then pull the filter, put a bucket or pan under the filter inlet, and see if the 2-second fuel pump priming pumps any fuel there.
Gallon milk jug might have less splash...
When you say no fuel at the rails, does the fuel pressure gauge say '0psi'???
Not only does the gauge read "0" but you can remove the shrader valve and no gas is in the rail?

If you hear the pump when you turn the key, but have zero fuel pressure, this is the next thing to do (unless you have not tried the SAME THING AT THE FUEL RAIL CONNECTOR)
Thanks working on it now keep an eye on the thread I'll make a new post either way.
Just checked NO fuel at the filter. Rick Lambert suggested to run a wire from the battery to the ALDL to make the pump run. What is the ALDL? The pump runs for the 2 seconds but no fuel at the filter and yes the tank does have gas .

Why do you want to run a pump you say is running? Time to pull the pump and take a look.Maybe it came disconnected from the fuel line if not looks like you need a new pump.It is not hard to pull the pump on these cars.
It is internal but if you pull the rubber off around the cap you will see the bolts that hold it in. Disconnect the wiring and hoses and it lifts right out of the tank. About 1/2 hour's work. I would have a pump ready JIK.

You already said the pump runs (primes) when you turn the key.
Disconnect the fuel rail inlet, get a milk jug, turn the key, and watch for gas.
That's the only thing you need to do now.
Ed.:
I see you have no gas at the filter. That was after turning on the key, and you heard the pump... right? No gas pumped into the jug?
Thats right ED no gas at the filter even though you can hear the pump running.
Like I ALREADY said pull the pump verify the connections and check the line to the filter for obstructions. My bet is it is disconnected in the tank from the metal line.
THANKS!! Pulled the pump found the sock to be full of stuff replaced the sock primed the system and started right up. YEA!!! Have 40 psi at idle. How does that sound?
