In brief, I own an 89 convertible that I purchased new in 89. In fact it has 26,xxx actual miles. Just recently I took it out for a drive. When I parked it and came back to start it. It would not start. Checked out the battery, fuel pump all of the suspects. Towed it to a repair shop where they ran diaganosis and found two injectors low (and changed), exchanged the computer and installed a new Jet Chip. This seemed to fix the problems. Except that when they took it out to test drive it died and would not restart. They towed back to shop and ran tests and could not diagnose any new issues. The car will start run for about 15 minutes (maybe a little less) and then shut down. Will not restart. Have found by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting that the car will restart after about 15 - 20 minutes and then stop again. Any ideas from anyone who has encountered same or similar issues. Security system? Thanks in advance...
Well, you have those famous injectors Multitechs, think that's their name, kinda brain dead right now. But if they found 2 that were bad, assuming, (hate that word) they meant the ohms were low, they should have replaced all 8!!!!!!!! Another thing that comes to mind is the ICM, as the engine and the module heat up, that's usually when the module will show its ugly head...and ka punk...engine will die. You can have the module tested at Autozone for free. Just make sure they run it through at least 10 cycles. But I'm betting on injectors causing a flooding problem. Next time it happens hold the pedal to the metal, that puts the computer in clear flood mode. If it starts, then you know the problem.
I think I'd also put a fuel pressure guage on it and see if you have other bad injectors, ohming the injectors only tells if the coils are bad, watching what happens with the pressure will tell you if their leaking, causing it to flood out and cause a hard restart.
