i dont use the ac because i need a new evaporator core but when i turned on the car a few days ago the ac came on and wouldnt go off, i pulled the fuse for now. what do you think?
This happened to my 96. The compressor clutch was frozen up; therefore it continued to produce cold air even when in the Off position. Have someone push the on and off switch while you look at the compressor. See if it disengages in the off position. If not, then this is the fix.
Since pulling the fuse works the electrical is OK.
Remove the A/C control unit, open the case, pull the circuit board and clean the card edge contacts with a pencil erasure. Also check to see if the card edge connector is warped.
My car seems to put out a small amount of what ever temperature I have the climate control set on at the time. If I have the climate control set on 80deg., but have the system turned off I still get the hot air without the fan. Is this normal?
sounds like good ideas, the weather got kinda chilly down here, 40 degrees, so i put the fuse in and used the heater. my heater is funny also. it will turn off by itself at a certain amount of time. im starting to think this is normal. it has been doing this for as long as i have had the car. so before when the heater would do this, id turn off the ac and turn it back on. i didnt think it was going to turn off, but it did. of course, later in the night it wouldnt turn back off.
