Replacing interior parts?
I look at interior parts online and it seems it would cost a fortune to fix it up. I can replace a few big things, like carpet and seat covers which would help alot, but that would just barely be getting into it and I would already be into thousands of dollars.
Does anyone have any advice on if there is a better or cheaper way of making it look pretty? I thought about using body filler/fiberglass to replace cracks in the hard plastic and touching it up with paint, and recovering the dash, but I don't think anything but replacement parts will work since it looks like they have been warped by heat or something.
I have thought about trying to sell it as is before I put anymore money into it and buying something in better condition, but I don't think I could afford too. I paid 5500.00 for it and probably got ripped off. It was my first vette and I didn't have alot of money and it was hard getting a car loan on a vette I could afford (finally I was able to find a credit union that would loan on a car, but the loan amount was 5k max for 1989 or newer only, which really, really limited what I could buy, in fact this was the only car in my price range and I looked for a few weeks).
Wish I could find a wrecked vette where I could just take the entire interior for cheap.
I refinished my entire carpet, door sills, and door panels with a few cans of Dupli-color vinyl spray and an adhesive promoter spray before that. It works on carpet and interior trim. The improvement was massive and I spent maybe $10 to make my interior look brand new. The painted carpet looks indistinguishable next to a set of new black floor mats. My plastic trim was in good condition though. Everything was just sun faded. I did not do my dash because it did not need it.

I have done the same. Just take your time, refinish what is useable and just replace what is needed a little at a time, what ever you can afford.
A nice restoration doesn't happen over night!
