88 automatic - D-36?

88 automatic - D-36?
I know in 86 the d-44 came for manuals only - but has the D-36 been the standard for the automatics - specifically an 88? or did they upgrade it to a d-44 by then?

In short, all C4 A4s were built with the D36. All C4 manuals, except the 1984, were built with the D44.
