Need some help. My 1996 corvette, LT4 will not turn over. I thought it was a bad starter. The other day when I got in it, turned the key over (all lights work and no security light) sounded like the stock starter was grinding, or just wouldnt turn over. I checked the battery with a load tester.......result= good. Didnt believe my own equipment, so had sears check it.........good. Took starter off, ran it, looks ok, but the gear is showing some wear, so I went to get another. put it on. now, you can tell the starter is running, hooking up with the flywheel, but it will not turn it over. It's like the flywheel is stuck. I can roll the car when I push the clutch in, so it doesnt seem to be a clutch problem.
All this happened after I've had a fuel pressure problem after the car sits for a while. I thought that was a fuel regulator problem (replaced it) and got rid of the fuel pulsation dampener. However, I think the FPR that I got from advanced auto is not working correctly, b/c I can see some fuel coming from the vacuum hose outlet. I'll take it off and take it back tomorrow. I'll also change the fuel pump once I make sure the FPR is working correctly.
But back to the reason for the post, anyone have any idea why the flywheel seems to be stuck?

did you check for hydrolock?.. take out the spark plugs and see if a cylinder is filled with fuel.
If the FPR is bad, you could be seeping Fuel past the injectors all the time, if it sits a while, a cylinder or 2 could fill up with fuel as has been hit on in the post above mine...
Pull the plugs and try that. Also unhook your ignition to eliminate the risk of a fire when you spin it over.
ah, ok
well.
you guys were exactly right. got all the way down to plug 7, seeing that a few were wet, but when I got the plug 7 free, gas came gushing out. Backed it out of the garage after unplugging opti and pulling fuse on fuel pump, took off FPR (taking it back to advanced auto tomorrow). Turns over now. thx much
I wonder how often these FPR are bad out of the box?
I am not looking forward to putting plug 8 back in tomorrow.

thanks, sounds like good advice. I'll just go ahead and change it. I noticed that some of the gas that came out looked like it had a little oil in it. That doesnt make sense to me.......this car burns no oil at all.....no smoking.
Should I let advanced auto give me the same brand FPR? Maybe I should have another brand. This one didnt work so swell.
