Default Removing EGR valve on an LT1

All of the threads pulled up by search seem to have been archived...

I attempted to remove my EGR valve for cleaning this morning, but I couldn't figure out how to get it off of the car... the valve itself is too close to the bolts holding it on to the intake, so I couldn't get a socket in there. I think I probably could have gotten it with a pair of pliers and a LOT of patience, but I don't think I could have ever gotten it back ON the car...

I've seen it mentioned a few places that it's a easy part to take off... what am I missing?

Or a gearwrench ratchet box wrench. Thats what I was able to use on mine.
I think removing the AIR hose helps in getting some room back there.

Disconnect the AIR hose clamps and move it out of the way. I used a box end wrench but open or box will work after you get it loosened you can turn them out by finger. Reverse process to install finger them in and snug with a wrench. Be ready with a new gasket.
