Why...?
I am thinking of upgrading my brakes soon but I am not spending money on adapter brackets for calipers that I can make myself! My question is, how come C5 kits for the 84-87 Corvettes just mount the caliper farther out in the same location on the rotor, but 88-96 kits move the caliper about 30 degrees up from where it was??? 
Is there a reason the different caliper has to be there or is it just easier to make the bracket that way??
I only ask because if I make my own bracket I dont want to find out that the caliper HAS to be in that position or it wont work.

I guess if there is no particular reason as to why they are mounted different I will mount the new calipers the same way the old ones are..

My guess is that the calipers were located where they are because of the stress on the rotor under hard braking, the strength of the bracket, and tire traction/size. I give those GM Engineers alot of credit for designing a rolling chassis that is at home on the track as it is on the street. I would keep it as close as original as possible.
