Just back from the shop, cost to align the rear end so tires are evenly centered side to side, $685.00, the smile on my face...Priceless, couldn't be more happy! so lets see where we are, 4 new upper and lower ball joints, 2 new tie rod ends, 2 rear bearing assemblies, 4 Spicer axle shaft u-joints, 4 new Verdstein Sassanta tires and 4 new Torq Thrust wheels, one 4 wheel alignment, and the rear batwings recentered. I'm tired of laying on my back and want a 4 post lift for my shop!
Neato ! SO what exactly needed to be done to centre the rear? Mine is a little off and I always figured it was normal. I want to do this.
Right now I have adjustable Camber and Toe bars, poly bushings in the rear as well so there's no issues with any of those things. my rear left still sticks out a bit more the left.
Turns out some vettes from the factory had off centered batwing mounts, mine had this and the previous owner had tagged a curb which didn't help matters, the shop realigned and centered the batwing mounts, I heard about all kind of fixes including running a spacer on the wheel that is on the inside to much to even out the look, this was the cheapest to do and don't see why it wouldn't work but I opted to have the problem corrected as I put 11" wheels on the rear and the drivers side tire was really sticking out of the fender well, it was more spendy but once its done right, it's done right! I will say other forum members went to a frame and alignment shop and had theirs realigned and quoted prices of $120 for the same work I had done, however I have a problem living here in North Idaho finding someone with a frame shop to do the work, in fact I had to take it to Spokane WA to get it done, it all worked out in the end, just no more problems for awhile please.....this one broke the bank!
How much work does this involve? Does it require removing the whole batwing and suspension etc? I can't imagine it being cheap. I would definitely liek to know what this requires I'd like to have mine fixed !!!
