Default Antifreeze

has anyone ever used the preston 50/50 coolant. The only one type of coolants i could find were premixed and labeled all makes all models. It says to add it to any antifreeze. I just don't want any problems. Couldn't find the green coolant at auto zone or walmart. It's a yellow color. Somone please advise.

if you change your antifreeze at the correct interval and make sure the mixture is correct them any antifreeze is ok. its when you leave it in there for a long time it starts to create problems.

If you're looking for the old-style "North American" non-extended use green antifreeze that was used in the corvettes before '96, it is available at NAPA and Carquest. Wal-Mart, Autozone, and AdvanceAuto don't carry it anymore. AutoZone even tried telling me it wasn't made anymore.

The premix is twice the price. I buy the regular stuff and mix in distilled water.

Just a thought. The pre mix is about $12 a gallon, the straight stuff is about the same price and distilled water is under a buck.

For once I'm glad I'm in MD; premix 50/50 runs about $8 down here in Wal-Smart & Advance Auto.

Still cheaper to mix your own though...

A lot of antifreezes are now 'urine yellow' in color to show universal compatibility w/ BMW Mercedes etc. as well as GM Ford etc.
