94 timing set question
I am in the process of rebuilding an engine for my 92 and upgrading myself. It is getting somewhat expensive, But I couldnt justify spending near $500.00 for an LT1 style timing chain that is not as strong.
I chose to run an older L98 style stronger Cloyes Double roller, but there are a few parts and changes that are needed to do this.
1. Newer style camshaft with longer dowel to drive the opti
(I was building my engine and wanted to upgrade anyway)
2. Electric water pump
(I consider an upgrade, + the old style chain wont/cant drive the LT1 style water pump)
3. Vented Opti/harness
4. 95-96 Style timing cover
I believe other folks have just combined/modified their existing older style optis with the newer type parts and have had success!!!
