Engine dipstick removal
1996 LT1
Other than the bracket at the exhaust manifold, is there anything holding the dipstick tube in? I have the bracket nut off however the tube still seems to be firmly in place.

Mine tapped out with a small hammer after removing it from the stud and tapping the bracket on top of the tube upwards away from the motor.
Some twisting helped too.If it wont budge,it may be seized and other methods like dropping the pan may be required to push it out from down below.
Mine was super easy though.No pan dropping required.

Vader86 describes a procedure on his website where you attach a cable/slidehammer to the tube and back it out that way.
I haven't read it recently, but it in with his description of installing headers. Sounds easier than pulling a oilpan -- unless it needs a gasket anyway.
