How do you find a short?
concerning those parts.
These parts are powered by the CTSY fuse.
1 underhood lamps,I leave mine disconnected.
2 horn relay, my horn seems fine.
3 key minder/headlight buzzer,both seem fine.
4 ETR radio /clock. I dont know what ETR stands for its on the
wiring diagram. The radio is a wiered thing in itself. Its a JVC & the
display works as good as my dash lights,HA. But it seems fine & I dont suspect it.
5 Then theres the curtesy lamp delay timer.Whats that? Does it shut your
interior lights out if you leave them on a long time? I have
never left my interior lights on long enough to see if that works.
6 The vanity mirror, not hooked up.
7 security light in center dash display. My alarm system works fine.
8 glove box light, works fine.
9 cig lighter, I was gonna say, Ive never checked it,cause Ive never used it.
But I figure I'll go check it real quick.
I get in the car & the stereo light is on!Im thinking "what the f#$%",
Its never done that before that I know of.The stereo isnt playing, wont
play,but the lights on.
The cig lighter socket is rusty in the bottom, that could be
making a current draw .If rust & moister combine to make a circuit from the center
of the cig. socket to the side or ground, then there could be a small draw of current.
But I guess my stereo has gone bad.I dont drive at night enough
to know how long this has been going on.
I was gonna say when I wrote #1 that I dont drive at night enough
to worry about haveing the under hood lamps disconnected.
For those interested the same circuit seems to power ( or have some control of)
the spare tire light & the Bose speaker relay.Seems wiered to me.
I have my original bose radio & speakers but at this point cant say what I'll do.
Thanks everyone for helping me thru this.
So How do You find a short?I guess you drive your car at night or smoke cigarettes.
Thanks again.
I'll be checking more tommorrow.!!!!!!!!!!!
So heres the thing the power antenna has its own ground & the cornering lamp ground connectes to the power antenna relay.I must have connected them together. So it feeds back to the bose relay & that sends it to the radio, which is (in my case the face of the stereo is lighting up)draining the battery.
So what could be happening to Aquatic & Micker61588 's cars is if your anntena was disconnected improperly or bose relay is still hooked up with an aftermarket stereo system.this could be your problem.
