Another grueling afternoon...
...lying underneath the 96 LT1, trying to get the bloody 4l60e transmission on the ground.
There are only two minor items left. The cooler lines which I had intended to leave for last. And the fill tube.
The fill tube is disconnected at the mounting bracket and it is out of the rubber grommet in the transmission. I spent a good two hours trying to get it out of the car without success.
Lowering the transmission jams the top of the filll tube against the firewall. Raising it causes it to bind somewhere underneath. There's a spot right between those two extremes where it is loose, but I can' move it more than a couple of inches up.
Anybody know the secret to getting this thing out? Share it with me please.
