Thinking of going with a 4-point roll bar...Corvette Central has one in there recent magazine for 395.00....Anybody using a 4-point.....Does it stiffen the frame good???/How about installation???? The plates on this one weld to the frame and the bar is then locked into place with bolts...It says 15 minuute removal????Thought about the cross-bar but having been in a roll-over some years ago and suffering a broken neck from it I think I'd rather have the extra protection....Being upside down sliding across pavement is no fun thing when the top is crushed in on you :nonod: :cry :(  :cuss
I don't understand, you say you thought about the rollbar with a cross bar but think that its less safe?
Anyway, ioport racing sells autopower roll bars (SCCA SOLO I legal) for a C4 for ~$306 pluss shipping.

Sorry for the misunderstaning...was thinking about getting the cross bar for stiffening purpose's but thought if i went to that much expense i might as well go ahead and take it one step futher and get a roll bar instead>>>>>remembering those 4 flips and upside down slide without one :cry thanks for the replys!!! ANYMORE?????
Anyone have any suggestions for a vert that will allow the conv top to function properly?
Good luck...that is one of the reasons I traded my vert for a coupe. I did try to get a custom made bar (2 separate chassis shops) put in but no one wanted to attempt to hack the car up for it, including myself. You would have to cut the deck lid to make one legal.
Don't know if you can store the top on top of the rear bars, but if so you could use alternative mounts. Not like you can see out the back window with the top stored anyways!
Custom is the only way to go. After all it is your safety we're talking about here.
Mr Mark put a 4 pt in his 86 vert. He had to cut it up a little bit.
When my time comes, I'm going with a 6 pt, done by the same guy as Mackey.
You can't put a price on safety. Spend the $$$ go custom.

I got mine from Exotic Muscle. Very happy with it. I didn't notice much chassis stiffening affect until I took it back out. What a difference. I did not need to cut the rear deck at all. Once the plates are welded to the frame. Installation or removal takes about 10 minutes.
>Lt401 did a 6pt rollbar that fits the top roll bar page
I remember seeing his post but now I can't find it using the search feature. Now I want his roll cage with a passion. Does anybody remember where he had it built?
I put the DRM 4 pt unit in my car. It involved cutting the rear mounting points out of the car. By this I mean, you have to cut about a 4" by 4" section of fiberglass out toward the front of the rear speakers. Fiberglass has also gotta be cleaned out for the front mounting points which are on the front side of the rear wheel well frame points. Quite messy during the install, but it's quite worth the results. It does stiffen the heck out of the car. The car used to feel like a wet noodle when the roof would be removed. Not any more!
I kinda went the extra mile when I did mine. I took it to an upholstery shop after doing much shopping at different locations for the right guy. It was stitched in pleather, matching the car's interior pleather, including the stitching. While the rear part of the interior was out I put down Dynamat to dampen the sound a little.
Another note, no matter who's bar you go with.. it's gotta be welded in if it's really gonna work.
