Default Oil sender replacement

I have an 89 vert, I need to change the oil sender switch on the driver side of the back of the block. It appears that I need to remove either the distributor or the wiper motor, am I seeing it correct? I hate taking stuff off only to find an easier way.

TIA

You have to remove wiper motor, no big deal, but distributor can stay, though it's tight. Just remember where the switch, and sender goe, and how the splitter they attach to is oriented. Use teflon tape, and be sure to get the part that screws into the block tight, or it will leak. If you are just replacing the sender because its bad, not leaking you shouldn't have to take it all apart.

Yes, either the wiper motor or the distributor must come off.

I Have a 89, With the correct tool you can do it without pulling the distributor or wiper motor. You just need to make a little breathing room by pulling the distributor cap and moving the ignition wires out of the way on the left side. I just did this job and was pretty easy. You will need a 1 1/4 crowsfoot to remove the oem silver colored sender and a extension and ratchet. The new design black senders have a smaller hex 1 3/8. I should be spot on my memory on the sizes. If I remember right I used a 4 inch extension.
