I changed my brake pads and bled the system before my last track day and everything worked great. After coming back I switched my pads back to the street pads and now my e brake light will not go off. The only time that the light will go off is under heavy braking. I have not noticed any difference in the braking performance of the car. The only thing is the light will not go off. Anyone else have this issue? I have checked the e brake cable and mechanism in the car and at the caliper but it doesn't seem to be anything stuck or binding anywhere. The car is an '89.
Sounds like the pressure diff. switch in the master cyl. is off center, probably from when you changed pads and pressed the pedal the first time before the pads were seated it thought you had a leak in front or rear. Manual says from memory think it's 70lbs. on the brake pedal will recenter the switch. Sounds like it's almost centered since it goes out with heavy braking. If the switch is the problem it can be moved manually also but it's probably not a normal procedure.
Thanks for the help guys! I wasn't able to check the forum with the way the weather been around here... I pulled all the calipers and checked the e-brake and rebled the system it it went away. Guess it was the pressure or the switch, but whatever it is its fixed now.
