[HELP] Check Engine Light on stock 96 LT4
My friends check engine light came on in his 96 LT4 while cruizing down the freeway.
There appears to be no performance problems or sounds at all.
He took it to his mechanic who claimed he could not see any codes set. He reset the light, and a few days later it came back on.
I have autotap and an OBD-II cable that I use for my C5. Is the 96 LT4 compliant with OBD-II diag tools?
Also any ideas what it could be?

Its usually emission related code like o2 sensor. I would take it to another dealer and run a code check. A code is always stored in the computer for future access by the dealer. Mine comes on then goes off every now and then.

I replaced my gas cap for $5 and solved my problem same symptons as your friends car. Also make sure to tighten it at least 3 clicks and push down while tightening. FrankLT4CE
